Biography

Minja Mijuskovic was born on January 9, 2004 in Belgrade, Serbia.

Minja is a dedicated composer and arranger as well as a bend leader and a pianist. Minja’s music has already been played in a quintet set up on various venues in the Netherlands and Austria as well as festivals and endowments in Serbia. Her last project was an introduction into her style and who she is as a person, this project was a debut album of Minja Mijuskovic Quintet “Hidden Garden”.

2026

Minja’s Nonet has played on the Keep an Eye International Jazz Award 2026 - semi finals, on which her bend member Yehorii Uzhva has won the best soloist prize of year 2026.

Minja Mijuskovic Nonet WON a “Down Beat” Magazine Award 2026 in the category for Small Jazz Ensemble/Combo that she wrote for this nonet. One thing this band will surely make you feel is heartbreaking truth. This music might make you homesick or nostalgic.

2023 - 2025

In this period, Minja moved to Amsterdam, Netherlands to study at Conservatorium Van Amsterdam. Moving to Netherlands opened many doors in her career. In October 2023. She played in piano a Serbian music related Television Show Series on Nova S called „Glas, Dirka, Bas“ as a pianist in the band. One of her personal favorite projects is „A Glimpse Of Nancy“ which is a tribute dedicated to Nancy Wilson. With this band Minja got to perform in Austria.

Minja continued with composing and she formed her first quintet in Amsterdam in January 2024 with musicians from all around the world and recorded original compositions with them. She released her music on all music platforms for the first time. After that, they performed on eight venues in Amsterdam. In April 2025 Minja recorded her debut album with her quintet at age of 21. The album got funded by a Serbian organization of arts „Sokoj” and its about to be released.

2019 – 2023

Minja finds interest in jazz music. She becomes a student of the jazz piano department at the music high school "Stankovic" in the class of professor Aleksandar Grujic, and at the same time continues to attend the department of music theory.

She played at the Jazz festival "Dzez za Dz" under the name "Minja Mijuskovic Trio" (September 18, 2021), where Minja and her trio played standards in original arrangements. In 2021. she entered the Stage Band of the Jazz Department. She performed on the main stage at the Belgrade Jazz Festival at Belgrade Youth Center.

During that period, she attended small ensemble classes at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade (University of Arts in Belgrade). Together with students of the department of jazz and popular music, she performed at a concert at the cultural institution "Vuk ".

She played in Kolarc's Endowment as part of the Stage Band with orchestra and Serbian star Beti Djordjevic on March 15, 2022.

And for the second time, she was invited to play with the students of the Department of Jazz and Popular Music at the concert in the Student Cultural Center. In addition to regularly participating in various sessions in Belgrade, she had concerts with her quintet (Minja Mijuskovic Quintet) where the band performed Minja's original compositions.

She performed with vocal quartets at the "Jazz in the Garden" festival on June 3 and 4, 2022. in the Botanical Garden of Belgrade. At which performed many other popular jazz bands from the Balkan. Later that year, she performed again at the festival "Dzez za Dz" with students of the faculty of musical arts in the ensemble "Filip Sokač Quintet - Tribute to Hard Bop".

At the invitation of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, she played piano with the band "No Room For Squares" for a recording session for the student radio "Flux" on November 19, 2022, at which the band, among other music, premiered Minja's original composition "Blue Corduroy" arranged for quintet.

2011 – 2018

Minja's musical journey begins with passing the audition for the choir of the national Radio-Television of Serbia (RTS), which is also the most famous and the first children's choir in the entire region named "Kolibri".
